Physical, emotional and sexual violence happens in all walks of life. It happens across all cultures and it happens on both sides of the tracks. You know what else is common? We don’t talk about it and oftentimes, the subject makes us so uncomfortable, it gets swept under the rug by the victim of abuse and his or her loved ones.

But that’s got to stop.

It’s time to heal.

You might know the facts of abuse:

  • Domestic abuse is a systematic pattern of power and control by one intimate partner against another.
  • Incest is still concealed and research shows that 46% of children who are sexually abused are abused by family members or someone they know.
  • Society doesn’t generally consider physical discipline abuse but it can leave a lasting impression and severe physical discipline at a young age can lead to a post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis in adult life.
  • Emotional, financial and social abuse are the most common type of abuse and are not easily recognized by the victim or the abuser.

And if you’re here, reading this page, you probably know more than just the facts.

  • You ask yourself if you did something wrong.
  • You’re worried, more than you’d like to be.
  • You believe that it can happen again even though there’s no danger.
  • You’re not confident that you can take care of yourself.
  • You’re having panic attacks.
  • You’re scared that someone will hurt you.
  • You’re finding it difficult to form relationships.
  • It’s hard to trust people now.
  • You’re finding it hard to let go of the past.
  • You doubt yourself.
  • You feel unsafe.
  • You’re wondering if life is worth living.
